Dried Shrimp Shell
Contact
Shrimp shell is a by-product of the shrimp industry, made from dried and ground shrimp waste, including whole shrimp or parts like heads and shells. It can also be produced from freshwater shrimp. Approximately 70% of shrimp landings become waste, creating large quantities of shrimp meal. The meal contains chitin, which is not easily digestible, and is typically sun-dried or oven-dried, sometimes after boiling or steaming. Due to its high chitin content, shrimp meal has poor pelletizing properties. It may also be co-extruded with soybean meal for certain applications.
