Yellowtail Scad, also known as Indian mackerel or “Cá ngân,” is a marine fish from the Carangidae family, widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Hawaii, and from Japan to Australia. In Vietnam, it is commonly found in Vung Tau, Ben Tre, and Phu Quoc. This fish has an oval body, typically measuring 150 – 200 mm. Valued for its delicious flavor, cá ngân is used in various dishes and can be enjoyed fresh or dried, available year-round.
