Dried Black Squid, also known as squid ghost or ocean squid, has a tubular body with reddish-brown color and purple stripes. Found at depths over 800 meters, these squids are caught more than 150 nautical miles offshore, primarily between December and September. They are cleaned and dried on fishing boats using two-floor drying rigs, taking 2-3 days to dry. The squid turns black with a strong odor and bitter taste. Its ink, often sold to China and Thailand, is used in Chinese cuisine, while higher-quality white ink is globally traded for its superior value.
