The Ribbonfish (Trichiurus muticus or Trichiurus lepturus) is a marine species belonging to the Trichiuridae family. It is a predatory fish that hunts near the surface during the day and returns to the deeper waters at night, feeding on shrimp, squid, and small fish. Although it has a slender body and little meat, the fresh fish is firm and becomes tender when cooked. It is low in fat and easy to fillet. Known for its high nutritional value, ribbonfish is used in various dishes and can be prepared fresh, chilled, or dried.
